Hunted by both the British government and Scottish rebels, she came to the Highlands in search of survival. At birth, Mick Trewlove, the illegitimate son of a duke, was handed over to a commoner. Orphaned and sheltered, Lady Aslyn Hastings longs for a bit of adventure.
With her intended often preoccupied, Aslyn finds herself drawn to a handsome man who seems to understand her so well. Life for Victoria Lacey should be perfect. And it is - perfectly boring. Agree to marry a lord who has yet to inspire a single, solitary tingle? Why, of course.https://alrorsafinsi.ml
The Thistle and the Rose
Smile as though this is not the thousandth time he's mentioned hounds and hunting? It's all in a day's work for the oh-so-proper sister of the Duke of Blackmore. Surely no one would suspect her secret longing for heart-racing, head-spinning passion. Except, perhaps, a dark stranger When Wicked Comes Calling When a mysterious stranger finds his way into her bedchamber and offers his help in landing a duke, Lady Felicity Faircloth agrees - on one condition. The Wallflower Makes a Dangerous Bargain He's infamous, debaucherous, and known all over town for his complete disregard for scandal, and positively irresistible seductions.
Gabriel St. James, Duke of Langford, is obscenely wealthy, jaw-droppingly handsome, and used to getting exactly what he wants. Until his attention is utterly captured by a woman who refuses to tell him her name, but can't help surrendering to his touch Hugh Philemon Ancaster, seventh Duke of Ripley, will never win prizes for virtue. But even he draws the line at running off with his best friend's bride. All he's trying to do is recapture the slightly inebriated Lady Olympia Hightower and return her to her intended bridegroom. For reasons that elude her, bookish, bespectacled Olympia is supposed to marry a gorgeous rake of a duke.
The ton is flabbergasted.

With no intention of forsaking her vow, Rebecca returns to England with James to face a future without her beloved charge. The enigmatic lord has his own promise to keep - and a passion for Rebecca that cannot be denied The narrator was excellent. The story line held my interest. I also enjoyed the little bit of mystery. Although I tried to finish , it was impossible. This was a painful experience. A first I thought. However, it soon became clear that the storyline was as bad or worst then the narrator.
Family tree characters
Interesting premise. The story and the characters are superior to most but the narrator needs to understand proper emphasis. I liked the book except for the incessant use of the word LAD. Sometimes lad was used several times in one paragraph. This became so grating that repeatedly I had to stop listening until I got over my irritation.
By the characters name James or Jamie Where was the editor??

Writing teaches that a closely duplicated word should be replaced by a synonym. This is my first time writing a review, but I have so enjoyed MM's books I just needed to share. I have been listening to Romance books for a couple years now. Yes, I wish I had stock in Audible: This book was my first one of hers and I have now listened to six of her books in just under two weeks. She has a great talent for visual descriptions, and character depth and development.
This book is a perfect balance of that talent, along with mystery, and descriptions of intimacy that are engaging but not over the top. She also added a bit of history which only helped with the depth, and believability of the story. I will continue to listen to more of her books. The Promise is absolutely one of the best stories I have read in awhile. May McGoldrick is an Amazing Storyteller. This story will go on my re read list.
The story is Heart Rendering, Emotional and will have you on the edge. Ten years ago in Rebecca Neville was an 18 year old Governess for Sir Charles Hartington, a cruel, sexual abuser to women. There was soon a process of the rehabilitation of highland culture. By the nineteenth century, tartan had largely been abandoned by the ordinary people of the region, although preserved in the Highland regiments in the British army, which poor highlanders joined in large numbers until the end of the Napoleonic Wars in His "staging" of the royal visit of King George IV to Scotland in and the King's wearing of tartan, resulted in a massive upsurge in demand for kilts and tartans that could not be met by the Scottish linen industry.
The designation of individual clan tartans was largely defined in this period and they became a major symbol of Scottish identity. The revival of interest, and demand for clan ancestry, has led to the production of lists and maps covering the whole of Scotland giving clan names and showing territories, sometimes with the appropriate tartans. While some lists and clan maps confine their area to the Highlands, others also show Lowland clans or families. Territorial areas and allegiances changed over time, and there are also differing decisions on which smaller clans and families should be omitted some alternative online sources are listed in the External links section below.
This list of Clans contains clans registered with the Lord Lyon Court. The Lord Lyon Court defines a clan or family as a legally recognised group, but does not differentiate between Families and Clans as it recognises both terms as being interchangeable. Clans or families thought to have had a Chief in the past but not currently recognised by the Lord Lyon are listed at armigerous clans.
Ever since the Victorian "tartan craze", tartans and "clan tartans" have been an important part of a Scottish clans. Almost all Scottish clans have more than one tartan attributed to their surname. Although there are no rules on who can or cannot wear a particular tartan, and it is possible for anyone to create a tartan and name it almost any name they wish, the only person with the authority to make a clan's tartan "official" is the chief.
Originally, there appears to have been no association of tartans with specific clans; instead, highland tartans were produced to various designs by local weavers and any identification was purely regional, but the idea of a clan-specific tartan gained currency in the late 18th century and in the Highland Society of London began the naming of clan-specific tartans. Many clan tartans derive from a 19th-century hoax known as the Vestiarium Scoticum.
